Miami, Something New

While on my journey I became much too busy and the schedule much too fast paced for me to keep up with the blog. Since being home for a couple months and finally getting settled into a new house and into a routine for classes and life I am now going to write a post on each stadium and or stop for those who care to read and to aid my own ability to remember before I forget neat, fun and cool details. With that The next stop on my stadiums tour after Minute Maid park in Houston was Miami

Miami, Something new

After the long drive to get to FL the next stop was Miami… well kind of. I did make a stop in Orlando and went to Disney World with my now ex-girlfriend as well.

The Bobblehead Case

We arrived at the stadium just before game time. The Stadium was big and white. It has a retractable roof which is following a trend of many newer ballparks. There wasn't too much to the outside of it. we entered the stadium from behind left field and had to go up an escalator to get to the main concourse. The concourse was open but not very attractive to the eye. There were lots of colors lining the walls on the concourse yellow, orange, lime green and blue maybe even some others. I didn't like the colorfulness. It added nothing to the stadium or atmosphere. There wasn't much on the concourse either. Your typical food places although not much variety and a few souvenir shops to get Marlins gear, nothing special though. There was one cool thing on the concourse, a large glass case full of bobbleheads. The Marlins have many bobblehead nights and the display case had hundreds of them in it, this was pretty cool to see. There were many players with multiple bobbleheads such as Mariner’s stars Ichiro and Felix Hernandez. Left Field at Marlins Stadium is the best part. There is a large glass wall behind the concourse that is cool looking and there is a large bar area on the concourse up there as well. Under the concourse there is a party area, it is a pool and club area during games and after the games the club part is still open, even to those who didn't attend the game.

The Home Run Statue
In Center Field just behind the fence they have “The Home Run Statue” This thing has got to be the ugliest piece of any stadium in the majors. It is just awful. It is very colorful, encompassing all the colors of the rainbow. When the Marlins hit a home run it goes off with flashing lights, smoke and many sea creatures that rotate around and move up and own. In my opinion they should remove this immediately, it belongs in a carnival not a baseball stadium.

The game was fun at least. There were a few home runs hit by the Marlins so I got multiple opportunities to see the statue in action, and the visiting Cardinals were also able to score some runs as well. It was fun to see the Cards play because they are on my list of favorite teams and they are good this year and the reigning World Series champions as well. I am not as big of a fan of them after Albert Pujols signed with the Angels but I still enjoy watching them and cheering them on and they have many of my favorite players on their team. However this night the Cards would come up short losing 5-3.
